Paleozoic and early Mesozoic stratigraphy of the western margin of North America
We look at the Paleozoic, Triassic, and Jurassic stratigraphy as we cross Wyoming. We pay close attention to how the section thickens and facies change as we move east to west across Wyoming, and discuss the deposition on and tectonics of the margin. Emphasis is placed on sedimentological observations and using those observations to make decisions about the location of formation boundaries. Students construct their first x-section.
